Founded in 2005 in the coastal city of A Coruña, Spain, VAZVA began as a surf equipment shop on Orzán beach, established by Óscar Vales. It had a major impact on the city’s surf culture, encouraging younger generations to take up the sport and bringing it to the heart of the local scene.

VAZVA was born in A Coruña in mid-2005 to offer a more unconventional lifestyle through fashion, with collections made from high-quality fabrics and comfortable, durable clothing designed in Galicia and produced entirely in Portugal. We began with multibrand shops, a school and skateboarding and surfing teams. In 2010, the shops became exclusively VAZVA, offering fuller collections for women, men and young people. By 2021, we had more than 60 points of sale across Europe. Surfing, skateboarding, art and punk rock are in our DNA. From the beginning, we have supported this way of life by sponsoring skaters, surfers, artists and punk bands.
Our first shop opened in 2005 opposite the iconic Orzán beach. We soon expanded into surf lessons, establishing ourselves as pioneers in the local scene. Almost without realising it, we became a reference point for surfing in A Coruña, and VAZVA T-shirts filled the streets.
Drawing on surf culture, we began to develop our brand as a movement connected to a sustainable, healthy lifestyle, sport and local culture. We soon formed our first surfing and skateboarding teams, followed by local artists and punk bands with whom we have organised concerts, competitions and exhibitions.
Over the years, we have built a family of people who share our passions and interests and help spread our brand’s values.
In 2018, we began a new journey with a stronger focus on sustainability. We founded our own activism platform and began taking action continuously. Since then, we have organised more than 400 beach cleanups, dozens of events and collaborations with local artists and businesses, spreading a positive message of awareness and environmental protection aimed at changing how people think.
VAZVA is a local brand that has grown and evolved from a passion for surfing. Along the way, we have met wonderful people and shared moments that have shaped us. Today, we want to keep growing and moving towards a future that is more conscious and connected to our planet.
